Lungnasadh (Lammas) - 24 fruit trees (homage to Joseph Beuys)

In early August, Lungnasadh (Lammas) is the first of the three Keltic harvest festivals.  We finally completed planting the last of 21 blueberry bushes alongside 24 fruit trees in the new orchard and we collapsed with exhaustion for a day afterwards!  The German conceptual artist and Green Party founder Joseph Beuys planted 7000 oaks, but that is beyond us.  Here is a panorama of the orchard with 3 figs, 7 apples, 4 cherries, 4 plums, 4 pears, 2 hazelnuts, and 21 blueberry bushes planted.

The annual vegetable garden is providing its first harvests of garlic, kale, onion, parsley, broccoli, lettuce, carrots, basil, zucchini, arugula, cabbage, potatoes, and peas.  There are also a few raspberries and strawberries, which will eventually be moved down to the orchard to be inter-planted in the orchard among the fruit trees.

Here is the harvested garlic now drying in the cabin.

Power peas ready to pick from the Jolly Green Giant.

Harvested power peas.
Carrots and brassicas (kale, cabbage, collards, cauliflower, broccoli) ready to eat.  Maturing onions to the left.  An arborist brought down a hazardous big spruce.  Its branches were mulched and are now covering the cardboard in the garden paths.
And a few flowers to brighten up your salads too (cardboard protecting from deer).
